Trouble mounts for Rahul Gandhi as the Congress MP from Wayanad has been issued a summon by a Mumbai court for controversial statements against PM Modi. Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by the Mumbai court over his remarks calling PM Modi "Commander In Thief". The summon was issued on August 28 and the Congress leader has been asked to be present before the Mumbai court on October 3 in the matter. This development has come in the light of a complaint filed by a BJP leader against Rahul Gandhi.

In a complaint filed by BJP leader in Mumbai's Girgaon Court in September 2018, the saffron party accused Rahul Gandhi of defaming PM Modi with his remarks. The BJP leader stated that the Congress MP not only defamed PM Modi, but also members of the BJP party. Taking action in the matter, the Mumbai court has issued summon to Rahul Gandhi. The former Congress chief had in 2018 targeted PM Modi and termed him as India’s ‘Commander in Thief.’ He had taken to social media and made the remark his post defaming the Prime Minister.
