More focus on medical services
Speaking about the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's First Military Medicine Conference, the Defence Minister said that bioterrorism breaks out as a "contagious plague" and further added that the armed force and its medical services have to be at the forefront of combating this menace.
He also mentioned about the aspects of military medicine in casualty management strategies -
"These protocols and strategies need to be devised taking into account not just the peculiarities of the operating environment and the nature of operations. But also the competence and capabilities of the AFMC. It is the latter where need to focus our attention and energy."
Event Invitees and Objective of SCO
Reportedly, Pakistan was also invited to the event as they are a member of the SCO. However, Pakistan skipped, allegedly due to the Kashmir issue. The conference is, therefore, being attended by 27 international and 40 Indian Delegates as this is the first military cooperation event being hosted by Indian since it joined SCO in 2017.
The main goals of the SCO are to promote effective cooperation, strengthen neighborliness, and establishing new international political and economic order.
