Rajnath Singh attends Army Commanders Conference in New Delhi

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended Army Commander's conference in New Delhi. The Defence Minister spoke on various important issues including borders.

In a first of its kind meeting during his tenure as the Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh on Friday addressed the Army commanders and the Army hierarchy. Describing his wonderful experience in meeting the senior Indian Army officers, Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and spoke about the role of the Indian Army in maintaining the national security of the country.

Defence Minister shares his personal experiences

During the interaction with the senior army officials, the Defence Minister also shares his personal experiences and emotions about the Indian Armed Forces. 

The Defence Minister's office also took to Twitter to share about the Defence Minister addressing the Army Commanders conference in New Delhi.

Raksha Mantri also appreciated the mature but firm approach of the Commanders on the nation’s borders and highlighted the need to address the concerns of perimeter security, cantonment discipline, and tri-service jointness. Speaking on the CDS, he reiterated the role of CDS in synergising the efforts of the three services. Sadbhavana effort of the Army duly praised and it was asked to protect the ‘Goodwill’ that has been generated by its efforts. Talking of the changing face of warfare globally and emphasising on defence preparedness, Rajnath also assured that there will be no criticalities, however, he also apprised the field commanders on the constraints of the budget. The challenges faced by the armed forces in Jammu and Kashmir were also brought to notice.

Army contribution is important

The Army's contribution was also declared as majorly important as India strengthens its indigenous combat system under the 'Make in India' program. The October iteration of the Army Commander’s conference was conducted in Delhi from 14-18 Oct 19. All important and relevant issues including operational readiness of the field formation, training to meet present and futuristic operational needs, issues relating higher defence management including aspects of organizational restructuring & reforms, aspects around the most important resource of the Army “the Man” were among the various aspects that were debated among the top leadership of the Army.
