May 22, 2015:

A student of class 9 drowned in the swimming pool of a government school in east Delhi’s Farsh Bazar area in the presence of coaches. Mukul Sharma of class eight, was  was learning to swim under the supervision of two coaches when he drowned in the pool of Babu Ram Sarvodaya School. According to news agency, PTI, police had registered a case against the life guards present at the swimming pool for alleged negligence, which they said led to the boy's death.

November 17, 2015

On November 17, 2015, three-year-old Syeda Xainab Fatima, died after getting stuck in the lift of a private nursery school. The incident took place in Hyderabad’s Dilsukhnagar. Agencies reported that the school principal along with the child’s teacher and educational official were arrested. Furthermore, reports suggest that a case was registered against the school management for causing death by negligence.

January 30, 2016

The brutal murder of  Pradhyuman Thakur is not the first time that the Ryan International School has come under the radar. Back in 2016, six-year-old Devansh Kumar died allegedly fell into a water tank in the Vasant Kunj branch of the school. Devansh was found dead in a reservoir under the school’s amphitheater, following which the principal of the school, a teacher and three non-teaching staff were arrested for negligence causing the boy’s death. However, according to reports, all of them had got bail the same day.

December 23, 2016

On December 23, 2016, a five-year-old boy died after falling in a vessel of hot sambar that was being prepared for mid-day meal. The incident took place in Nalgonda district of Telangana and the boy studied at the Government Primary School. According to reports, the boy was standing in a long cue awaiting food when was accidentally pushed by someone from behind and accidentally fell into the hot sambar vessel. He suffered 70% burns and later succumbed to his injuries. Following a complaint by the grandfather of the deceased boy, a case of negligence was filed against three women cooks with Kattangoor police station, news agency PTI reported.

August 2017

A protest led by hundreds of parents unfolded in Mumbai city’s Malad in August 2017 after the rape of a four-year-old came into light. The peon, according to news agency PTI, sexually assaulted the girl inside a washroom of the school between August 1 and 4. A case on the charge of rape and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered, an officer was reported saying.
