Satya Nadella's father B.N. Yugandhar passes away

Father of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandhar, passed away at the age of 82. He had served in the PMO during PV Narasimha Rao's regime.

Former bureaucrat Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandhar, father of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, passed away on Friday at the age of 82. Yugandhar had served in the Prime Minister's Office during late PV Narasimha Rao's regime and also acted as the director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration at Mussorie. Satya Nadella is his only child.

Concern for disability issues

B.N. Yugandhar died in the afternoon, sources close to him said. Sources also said, the bureaucrat had not been keeping well for sometime now and that his wife had passed away earlier. Yugandhar, a 1962 batch IAS officer, had also served as secretary in Union Rural Development Ministry. As a member of the erstwhile Planning Commission, he was instrumental in getting an entire chapter on disability issues included in the plan, official sources said.

Condolences pour in

Condoling Yugandhars death, Telangana chief secretary SK Joshi told PTI that "He (Yugandhar) was doyen of IAS officers and a jewel in the crown of civil services officers." Recalling his association with Yugandhar, former union home secretary K Padmanabhaiah said, "He (Yugandhar) was a committed and brilliant officer. He used to inspire young IAS officers. He had Left-oriented ideas. It is a loss for all of us."

President of Telangana IAS officers Association BP Acharya condoled the death of the illustrious civil servant. "He (Yugandhar) is a role model for the young officers to emulate in terms of his contributions to the field of rural development. May his 'atma' (soul) attain 'sadgati' (salvation), he said in a statement. 

Chief Minister of Telangana Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao also expressed condolences over his death of former senior IAS officer in the united Andhra Pradesh State, B.N. Yugandhar. The CM reportedly said Yugandhar was a sincere, honest officer who was known for his simplicity, recalling the services rendered by Yugandhar. K Chandrashekhar Rao conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family especially Sri Yugandhar's son and Microsoft CEO Sri Satya Nadella.
