SCOOP: Have disclosed all foreign properties, claims Robert Vadra to ED dismissing business dealings with 'friend only' Sanjay Bhandari

Robert Vadra, brother-in-law of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged money-laundering case relating to possession of illegal properties in London.

Robert Vadra, brother-in-law of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged money-laundering case relating to possession of illegal properties in London.

In the latest development in the #VadraQuestioning, inside sources from ED office told Republic TV that Robert Vadra has denied all charges levied against him in the money laundering case. Furthermore, he also claimed that 'he has no business relations with his alleged close aide, Sanjay Bhandari', saying he knows Sanjay Bhandari only as a 'friend'.

When the ED officers asked Vadra to write down the claims, he refused to do so, as per sources. Moreover, on being questioned about his 8-9 London-based properties, Robert Vadra made all disclosures about his alleged assets in London. 

Earlier, Republic TV accessed exclusive inside details of the ED questioning of Robert Vadra which was set to be divided into three parts:

  1. In the first part, ED would question him over his relations with Manoj Arora, Sumit Chadha, CC Thampi and Sanjay Bhandari. In this, he will be confronted with emails and statements of Manoj Arora made under the PMLA.
  2. In the second part, he would be asked about 8-9 properties in London - three villas and six flats - the transactions for all of which happened between 2005-10. 
  3. The third part of the questioning would be about the alleged kickbacks, purportedly over the defence and petroleum deals.

High drama was witnessed outside the ED office in Delhi on Wednesday, when Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who took charge as the Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East), came to drop off her husband Robert Vadra to the ED office before his questioning. After seeing off her husband, she proceeded to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) HQ where she promptly took up her responsibilities as the general secretary for UP East.

On being asked about her husband's questioning by the ED, the only statement she gave: 'I stand by my family'.
