The fierce encounter between the Maoists and the security personnel took place 30 km away from the district administrative office in which two soldiers have also suffered injuries. According to reports, they have been shifted to the nearby hospital, but the intensity of the attack is yet to be confirmed by the police.
Doordarshan news had confirmed about the attack on its camera person:
In the aftermath of the attack, P Sundar Raj, DIGP of Dantewada Range organized a press briefing, where he gave further information about the attack
"More information about the ambush is coming from the site. The incident took place when our team was patrolling in the Dantewada area. We have deployed more forces in the sector. We have been aware of the security deployment in these areas. But, I am again insisting upon the growth of the Naxal movement in the sector. While we are carrying on the investigation against the Maoists very carefully, we still insist the citizens should take appropriate care themselves also. New faces of Naxals are coming forward with each passing day."
This incident has taken place three days after four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans attained martyrdom following an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Saturday. According to media reports, two jawans were also injured. It was reported that the Maoists blew up an anti-landmine vehicle in the poll-bound state, injuring several.
“The incident occurred around 4 pm near Murdanda camp of the CRPF under Awapalli police station, when its 168th battalion was out on "area domination" operation, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg told PTI.
