Self-Styled Godman Rampal sentenced to life imprisonment by Hisar court
Self-styled Godman Rampal has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Hisar Court on Tuesday, five days after he was held guilty by the Hisar Court in connection with the two murder cases of four women and one child at Satlok Ashram.

Five days after he was held guilty by the Hisar Court in connection with two murder cases of four women and one child at the Satlok Ashram, self-styled godman Rampal has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Hisar Court on Tuesday,
Speaking to the news agency ANI, Rampal's lawyer AP asserted that he will move the High Court against the Hisar Court's verdict.
"We will appeal in the High Court. These people were, in fact, trying to save the people who have lost their lives. My clients have been given life imprisonment under Section 302, life imprisonment under Section 120. two years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5000 under Section 343," said Rampal's lawyer to ANI.
On October 11, all the accused, including the 67-year-old godman's 22 supporters were convicted in the murder charges by the Hisar court. The court will announce its verdict second FIR (430) on October 17.

Prior to the October 11 verdict, Section 144 was imposed in the nearby regions of Hisar, owing to which police forces from several districts as well as five companies of Para Military forces were deployed in Hisar and the surrounding areas to prevent disruption of law and order. Hisar borders were blockaded for the past two days to prevent the entry of Rampal’s supporters in the premises following the verdict. The police had intensified security at the deserted Satlok Ashram as well. Furthermore, trains coming from different parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana to Hisar had also been stopped by the court on last Wednesday.
"Ahead of the verdict on self-styled godman Rampal, we have taken adequate measures to maintain law and order. Around 2000 police personnel have been deployed in the area," Ashok Kumar Meena, District Collector, Hisar had said.
In an earlier verdict on August 29, 2017, a local court had acquitted Rampal in two criminal cases, first for wrongful confinement of his followers and second for causing hindrances for public servants from performing their duties.
