Update at 10:36 am:

The trial can't start till the matter is referred to sessions court. It will be referred once things are clear: Dr Swamy

Update at 10:34 am:

What is relief? The court has already placed conditions.: Dr Swamy

It is my petition that has brought it this far. Delhi Police has acted on that basis. No question of me not having locus. These are bland statements that lawyers use. : Dr Swamy

The question is the evidence. The chargesheet has to be rectified and it will be rectified (on there being a discrepancy at the end of the chargesheet given to Shashi Tharoor): Dr Swamy

Update at 10:30 am:

There was an application filed by Dr Swamy which we have opposed because he's an absolute stranger to the case, he has no locus. He's not a complainant. He's not related to the case at all. Even the public prosecutor is opposing his locus in court. Dr Swamy's petition was dismissed by the Delhi High Court and it is in the Supreme Court but the court hasn't heard it: Vikas Pahwa, Tharoor's counsel.

Update at 10:21 am: It's their spin to say that this is regular bail. I came here to say there has been tampering of evidence for which Delhi Police has a report and they were directed to produce it. Today both Delhi Police and counsel of accused said my position is not maintainable. I argued under relevant sections. The court took a fair stand that the counsel for the accused should file a rejoinder/counter-affidavit to my application. I am only here to see that the trial is fair and that the Delhi Police doesn't botch it up: Dr Subramanian Swamy

Tharoor's advocate is scared of everything I file. He's trying to say I'm a stranger: Dr Swamy

Update at 10:15 am: Next date of hearing is July 26, at 2 pm

Update at 10:11 am:

Tharoor's counsel Vikas Pahwa opposes interference of Dr Swamy and challenges the maintainability of Dr Swamy's application.

Chargesheet and other documents have been supplied to Shashi Tharoor. Delhi Police has filed a reply to Dr Swamy's application seeking summoning of the Delhi Police vigilance report. Copy of Delhi Police's reply submitted to Dr Swamy.

Order being given.

Update at 10:10 am:

Tharoor's counsel Vikas Pahwa objects to Dr Swamy assisting the prosecution.

Update at 10:09 am:

This case deals with tampering of evidence: Dr Swamy

Tharoor's counsel Vikas Pahwa says Dr Swamy has no locus in the case: 'He is a stranger to the proceedings. If we start entertaining strangers like Dr Swamy, everyone will come to court.'

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor will appear at Delhi's Patiala House Court on Saturday in the Sunanda Pushkar death case based on the summons that was issued upon the SIT filing an almost 3000-page-chargesheet against him.

Two days earlier, on Thursday, Tharoor was granted anticipatory bail on a surety of Rs 1 lakh and on the condition that he would not tamper with evidence and shall not leave India without permission. The Delhi police while objecting to the bail said that Tharoor is an influential person and can hamper the investigation. The cops also said that they have two key witnesses and both of them are the domestic help of Tharoor.

As per sources, on Saturday, Tharoor is likely to move a plea to get regular bail before ACMM Samar Vishal.

BJP MP Dr Subramanian Swamy is also expected to be at court. When Tharoor had got anticipatory bail, Dr Swamy had said:

“The battery of lawyers were unnecessary to get the bail. This is all drama. It is fear in his mind. It is not an application by the Delhi police seeking that he should be brought in. That will be decided anyway on the 7th. There is no written submission by the Delhi police, or in the chargesheet, or any of the materials placed before the court - where anybody spoke about him being arrested, because once the chargesheet is filed, the question of further interrogation is a special provision,” said Dr Subramanian Swamy.

“He ran to the court like a frightened cat, therefore the Delhi police didn’t want to be seen complicit with him,” he added.

During the hearing a month back, on June 7, the judge had taken cognisance of the Delhi Police's chargesheet against Tharoor where charges had been admitted against him under IPC 306 (Abetment to suicide) and IPC 498 (Cruelty).

Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a suite of a five-star hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014. A number of investigative reports by Republic TV have highlighted the Delhi Police's shortcomings in the case prior to the chargesheet finally being filed.
