Sheikh Hasina says, 'NRC is not a problem' at event in New Delhi

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she does not see the NRC as a problem on Thursday, October 3. She was quoted saying she is satisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance that Bangladesh should not be worried over the NRC being implemented. Reportedly in an interview to local media, the Bangladeshi PM confirmed that she met her Indian counterpart in New York, where the latter had assured her about the situation not spiralling into something of concern.

'I don't see any problem' says Bangladesh PM on NRC

According to a report by Indian Express, the Bangladesh Prime Minister opined she does not see NRC as a problem 

 “I don’t see any problem. I had a talk with Prime Minister Modi. Everything is OK.”

Bangladesh PM set to meet PM Modi

The Bangladesh Prime Minister is currently in Delhi to attend the Indian Economic Summit. She is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a bilateral meeting on Saturday, October 5. While attending the WEF Summit, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina spoke about economic opportunities for her country and laid out some facts for the same, where she was quoted saying:

“Beyond our own 162 million people, Bangladesh can be the connecting landmass to a combined market of nearly 3 billion people.”

Bangladesh PM Hasina Sheikh inaugurates India-Bangladesh Business Forum

Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the India-Bangladesh Business Forum on Friday and said there is a lot of scope for improving bilateral ties with India.

“Trade and investment between the two countries are increasing. The volume of bilateral trade has steadily grown during the past years. But the balance of trade is still largely in India’s favour. So there is a lot of scope for deepening our relationship with India in areas of trade and investment,” the Bangladesh Prime Minister said.

At the event, she also recalled India’s contribution to Bangladesh in the 1971 liberation war. She asserted that Bangladesh has offered three special economic zones for Indian investors and also invited Indian business leaders to invest in Bangladesh.

Tripura CM meets Bangladesh Prime Minister

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb met with the Bangladesh Prime Minister on Thursday, where the two leaders discussed several topics such as connectivity, including the possibility of a direct flight between Agartala and Dhaka. The Chief Minister later shared on the microblogging site Twitter that the interaction was 'fruitful'.
