In yet another low for the Congress party, a senior leader has been caught on camera, calling for the assassination of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a public gathering. In a video shared by BJP Karnataka on its official Twitter handle on Tuesday, Congress leader Belur Gopalkrishna can be heard demanding the people to 'target and kill' PM Modi, asking them if 'they have guts'.
In the video, the Karnataka Congress leader said in Kannada, "...this nation has condemned the insult. They praise those who killed Gandhiji, they praise Godse. Such people should not be in this country. If they try to attack our democracy, if you have guts, let them target and kill Modi, not anybody else..."
Exposing the Congress party, the BJP Karnataka further demanded Home Ministry and Bangalore Commissioner of Police to take immediate legal action against the Congress leader for instigating assassination of PM Modi.
This threat by the Congress party has come eight months after the Pune Police accessed a letter suggesting a plan to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi in “another Rajiv Gandhi type incident” by “targeting his roadshows”. The letter was allegedly found from human rights activist Rona Jacob's laptop during Police investigation in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case.
Republic TV had accessed the chilling letter on June 08, 2018 in which some activists have "proposed concrete steps to end Modi-raj".
"We are thinking along the lines of another Rajiv Gandhi type incident. It sounds suicidal and there is a good chance that we might fail but we feel that the party PB/CC must deliberate over our proposal," read the letter. It also charted out a plan to target PM Modi's roadshows, saying "targeting his road shows could be an effective strategy."
