Taking the discourse to a new low, Rajasthan's former Health Minister Kali Charan Saraf making an awful statement said that 'rapes cannot be stopped'

Trivialising rape, the BJP legislator went on to target the Congress party saying that there has been a rise in rapes during their tenure, however, it cannot be stopped.

He said, "Rape is one such thing that cannot stop. There has been an 87% rise in rapes. During our time (BJP tenure) rapes did happen, but we curbed it.  It did not increase by 87%, it is shameful for the government."

Back on June 5, BJP's Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj drew flak after he met with a rape accused MLA from his party in jail.

In an appalling move, Sakshi Maharaj met Kuldeep Sengar in Sitapur district jail to 'thank him' for the Lok Sabha elections results. He also called the rape-accused MLA a 'popular' leader. Sengar, is a BJP MLA from Bangarmau in Unnao. He was arrested by the CBI in July, 2018 in a rape case.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Unnao MP defended his meeting with Sengar. He said that the MLA was popular locally and added that he met him to thank him and had in no way could help him with issues regarding staying in jail.

"Sengar is a successful and popular MLA from here. I wanted to thank him for the election results. I only came to meet him. His problems here and issues of comfort not my concerns and they are not under my control. I only came to meet him," he said.
