In a shameful and brutal display police in Madhya Pradesh's Morena, personnel were seen beating up the kin of a deceased person and dragging the corpse outside. The victim's kin was lathi-charged allegedly because they had requested for the post-mortem to be done in their village to which the police objected and retaliated.

Video evidence clearly show the policemen dragging the corpse to take it for post-mortem and subjecting the family of the deceased to physical assault by lathi-charging at them. The deceased had allegedly died due to a gunshot from an unidentified source as he was returning from a relative's house. The members of the deceased's family can be seen being pushed out and wailing and eventually being beaten up as the corpse is dragged out by a group of policemen.

The police, however, had nothing to say about the incident and addressed only the matters relating to the death of the person, when reporters approached them. "An FIR will be filed soon and once the formalities are done, we shall be able to tell what has happened". Nothing was told about the cops mishandling the corpse and the kin of the deceased.

"We were subjected to lathi-charge from the policemen just because we requested them to do the post-mortem for my son in our village. They pushed us, beat us up and dragged the corpse of my son outside. They also arrested a few of my relatives for protesting against the abuse", said the victim's father even as the mother can be heard wailing in the background.
