In a sensational admission on Republic TV on Thursday, Kuldeep Sengar's alleged aide who was seen handing a suspicious item to the policeman outside Sitapur jail (Unnao rape-accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar is lodged) in the channel's earlier newsbreak has admitted that he offered money to the cop. The man has been identified as Rinku Shukla who says he is an independent politician.
Hours ago on Thursday, Republic TV had shown five videos that hinted that Unnao rape-accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar's aides were bribing the police in exchange to be allowed to meet the MLA. The videos showed the cars used by alleged aides of Sengar which had MLA written on name plates and had carried BJP party flag. The videos also showed the MLA's alleged aides coming out of the prison at midnight covering faces. One of the clip shows a man, whom sources say is Sengar.
After Republic TV's Senior Correspondent Piyush Mishra confronted the man seeming to bribe a cop by making him watch the video, a cornered Shukla said, "No, it is not my mentality to think that I will be allowed to meet Sengar only if I gave the cop money, I offered him money to have some tea as he was standing under the hot sun. I might have given him Rs 10-20. It was not a bribe."
He spoke about his political affiliation, "I am not a member of BJP but I am allied with the party. I am a Jila Panchayat member. I am Independent leader."
He also spoke about meeting Sengar in jail. "I met him around 10-15 days ago. I met him with some other people. I met him as he was also an MLA like me. Many people meet him."
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court transferred all the five cases in the Unnao incident. It has ordered the CBI to finish the probe in the accident in seven days and seek for additional seven days time if required. It also directed the lower court in Delhi to fast-track the hearing and finish the trial within 45 days in the Unnao rape cases.
It has ordered protection for rape-survivor and her family by the CRPF and also directed the U.P government to give her interim compensation of Rs 25 lakhs.
