In a ferocious incident, two Kashmiri street vendors were attacked by a group of saffron-clad men on a busy road in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow on Wednesday. The condemnable incident was caught on tape and the video has also caught the eye of World Cup-winning cricketer Gautam Gambhir.
Gambhir, who is always vocal over various issues plaguing the nation, has gone all out to condemn the incident by calling it a "Disgrace". In strong words, Gautam Gambhir wrote on Twitter: "Broad daylight, bashing a Kashmiri trader in his own country! Disgrace! Are we setting a new Nationalism? Not only us but this Nation belongs to them as well. This is India".
Earlier in the day, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah asked PM Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath to look into the matter and take action against the goons.
He further questioned if the concerns and assurances of the Prime Minister towards Kashmiris was a mere 'jumla meant to placate'.
Meanwhile, all four goons involved in the hate-crime were arrested for attacking Kashmiris in Lucknow.
