Finance Minister Sitharaman says Guru Nanak's teachings still relevant

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman extended greetings on the 550th birth anniversary and said the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji are still relevant today

On the occasion of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Sikh faith founder, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman extended greetings on Tuesday and said the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji are still relevant. "The teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji are simple and remain to be relevant even today. We must learn from them and teach other's as well," she said.

The Finance Minister also visited and paid respects to Guru Nanak Dev Ji and prayed at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in the national capital on Monday. Hundreds of Devotees also attended the prayers at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib. The Gurudwara was decorated and lit up with bright lights to mark the occasion.

PM Modi extends wishes on 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his greetings on the occasion and said we must do justice to Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings for a just, inclusive, and harmonious society.

"This is a day to rededicate ourselves to fulfilling Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s dream of a just, inclusive and harmonious society," he said. 

November 12th is the 550th Prakash Purb of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, born on Kartik Purnima, is celebrated as Guru Parva or Prakashotsav. The nation is celebrating the 550th Prakash Purb of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 

On November 9 this year, the Kartarpur Corridor was also inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev Ji's 550th birth anniversary. The Kartarpur corridor links Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the final resting place of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev, with the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab district.
