Telangana continued to witness a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with 127 fresh cases and six deaths being reported, taking the tally of positive cases to 3,147 and fatalities to 105.

The state had reported 129 cases and seven deaths yesterday. All the fresh cases were reported from different parts of Telangana and no migrants or deportees or foreign returnees were found positive for the virus today, a state government bulletin said. Out of the 127 fresh cases, 110 were reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, which has been the epicentre of COVID-19 infection in the state.

The bulletin said 1,587 people have been discharged from hospitals so far, while the number of patients under treatment was 1,455. Out of the total 3,147 cases, total positive cases among migrants, deportees and foreign returnees as on 5 PM Thursday were 448.  Total cases reported from different parts of Telangana were 2,699, the bulletin said. Meanwhile, BJP MLA Raja Singh alleged that state ministers and officials of a state-run hospital did not respond properly when he called them after family members of a COVID-19 positive pregnant woman, who eventually died, expressed concern over her health condition to him. The state government appeared lacking interest in saving COVID-19 patients, he alleged. However, a hospital official clarified that there was no negligence in treating the woman patient. The patient was referred from a private hospital and she was treated in the ICU of the state-run hospital after her admission, they said. The patient had problems in breathing and the doctors of all departments tried to provide better treatment to her, he said.

The condition of the patient was explained to her husband and other fam ly members and the hospital had all relevant proof, he added.
