The world got to see a new facet of Union Minister Smriti Irani on Friday as she wielded two swords and performed 'Talwar Raas', a traditional Gujarat dance form. Irani was seen performing Talwar Rass at a cultural event titled 'Women’s Uplifting Forum Program' in Gujarat's Bhavnagar area. A viral video of her performance is doing the rounds on the social media platform, with many netizens commenting on the minister’s performance. 

The cultural event hosted by the Shri Swaminarayan Gurukul was also attended by Jitu Vaghani, president of BJP’s Gujarat state unit.

The organisers of the event requested the Amethi MP to join the female performers on stage for the performance of Talwar Raas. To everyone’s surprise, the minister got up, walked to the stage, picked up two swords and joined the performers in the dance. In the video, one can see Irani accompanied by dancers dressed in turbans and armoured vests and performing the dance while brandishing swords in both hands. The traditional dance form is popular in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
