Smriti Irani shares model Nisha Yadav's story, netizens applaud

Smriti Irani turned Rajasthani model Nisha Yadav Instagram famous by posting a video of her inspiring story at the recently-concluded Lakme Fashion Week.

In a heartwarming Instagram post, Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani has introduced Rajasthani model Nisha Yadav sharing the later's inspiring story at the just-concluded Lakme Fashion Week. In a video posted on August 23, Irani talks fondly about Yadav who is a lawyer, and model from Rajasthan.

Irani's message in the video

“I wanted all of you to meet Nisha Yadav... There is something special about her. She is not only a model but also studying law. She has completed her second year of law from Rajasthan university, the third year is on and she’s already working in Delhi,” Irani said in the video.

Asserting how special Yadav is, Irani added that the model cum lawyer walked six kilometers every day to attend school. On the other hand, Yadav explains in the video that her father asked her to leave home when she refused to get married at a young age. Even her sisters, who supported her, were also asked to leave. Later her family accepted their decision, an emotional Yadav said. Talking about her sisters' achievements, Nisha said that her four sisters are doing quite well professionally. While one of her sisters is an IAS officer, another is in the police department. The third one is a software engineer and her fourth sister is a professor.

Drawing conclusions from Nisha and her sisters' life decisions, Irani said, “Iska Matlab betiyon ki shaadi tab jab padhai puri ho, jab balik hon aur jab unki ichcha ho (Daughters should be married only after their education is complete, after they are adults, and when they wish to get married).”

At the end of the one-minute clip, Irani talked about the underlying struggle people go through to prosper in their lives. “There is a story behind many faces. You see the glamour, you see the glory. They also hide a lot of tears,” Smriti said.

Netizens laud Nisha Yadav

Since being shared online two days ago, the video has collected over 1.5 lakh views and over 800 comments. Nisha Yadav also responded to the video and thanked Irani. Instagram users have lauded Irani's post with a lot of comments. “That’s really sweet,” commented an Instagram user, “so nice ma’am. The way you speak is so good to listen,” said another. “So inspiring. Thanks for sharing,” said a third user.
