Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev from the Isha Foundation had spoken on 'The Wings To Surge' panel on cultures and values that power a billion at the inaugural Republic TV summit. The panel discussion was moderated by Republic Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami.
Sadhguru said that he wanted to bust the myth that spirituality is a disabllity. He said:
"The one little thing I am trying to change in India is that a whole lot of people think that spirituality is a certain disability. People ask me what they can't do if they are spiritual. So I am doing a lot of circus in my life, a variety of things, just to show them that if you are spiritual then you are empowered and being spiritual is not a disability.
One fundamental thing is that this is a commentary in a certain section of media which has been going on non-stop for 25 years about me... (they blamed me) for stealing kidneys to disturbing tigers which are 200 kms away... because I speak, and play music...
The continuous campaign is because they ask why a spiritual organisation is growing and why are they doing things efficiently.
One time, we were going in a car and the driver was slow, so I told the driver, I will drive the car myself, so I can be at the conference on time. So a journalist asked me, "So if you drive your own car, how can you be a Yogi?"
This idea, that if you are a spiritual person you must be incompetent... this is a land where kings and economic leaders were spiritual. Spirtitual path is empowerment which brings success and well being not something that drives you to a corner."
Earlier today, Sadhguru also people moving towards a more spiritual path.
"Our highest goal has not been God, it has been liberation and truth. This culture is not of the past, it is of the future. As more and more people think for themselves and they will seek the truth. Human beings will seek truth and freedom. This is essentially a movement, which has been happening around the world. Truth is the authority in life. Authority is not the truth."
