Sudden Smoke Triggers Panic Among Commuters In Kolkata's Maidan Metro Station: LIVE Updates Here

Update at 6:23: The situation is reported to be under control. Some minor injuries have been reported, due to a suffocating situation. Entry inside the metro station is now permitted anymore.


Update at 6:01: Services have been closed at the metro station, following the panic. In the video accessed, people could be seen in a state of chaos as the Kolkata police guide them out of the station in a queue. Security officers has been deployed. 


Sudden smoke detected in a metro rake traveling from Tollygunge to Dumdum triggered panic among commuters on Thursday evening. As per reports, the commuters tried to break window panes while inside the panels.

Kolkata Police's disaster management team is on the spot. The evacuation is on-going. Six people have been admitted to Kolkata's SSKM hospital. 

No reports of injuries or casualties reported as yet.
