Sunanda Pushkar case: Story so far
The Delhi Police in 2018 had named Congress MP Shashi Tharoor as the lone accused in the case and charged him under Sections 498 A (husband or relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and Section 306 (abetment to suicide). Later, a 3000-page chargesheet was filed by the Delhi Police in Sunanda death case. It was in February 2019 announced by Delhi's Patiala House Court that Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor will face trial in the Sunanda Pushkar death case for abetment to suicide. However, Shashi Tharoor has consistently maintained that the charges against him are “preposterous” and “politically motivated”. However, the Delhi Police investigation has proved otherwise. Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in the Leela hotel in New Delhi on January 17, 2014.
