The country is commemorating the second anniversary of the surgical strike that the Indian Army carried out against terror camps across the Line of Control in 2016. Talking to Republic TV on this eve, former Army Chief General Dalbir Singh informed that not one but 'multiple targets were struck in one night'.

When asked about how the entire operation was carried out, he informed:

'operation of the planning started after Myanmar strikes and preparation for strike began in June-July 2015. Special forces prepared for about 15 months. The focus on planning, preparing, training & upgrade'. Loss of even one life in uri was extremely painful".

Prime Minister approved the option and we recommended post URI. We had wargamed every possible reaction from Pakistan. The Contingencies thought out 10 days before strike. The main challenge in such operations are exfiltration. My direction was nobody should be left behind. We had onlt two concerns-- must succeed and zero casualties. I was extremely proud of the boys", he added.

While silencing the critics who sought out a proof for the Surgical strike, he said:

"You can't compare previous raids with a surgical strike. Previous raids were actions at the unit level. Previous raids were single-point operations along LOC. Previous raids did not have political approval. When we do an operation we don't think of collecting proof. Instead of a camera, I would give my boy a machine gun. Our footage was not to prove anything to anybody as the details of operation should remain a secret".

Former Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag gives out a clear warning to Pakistan:

"We created a sense of insecurity in Pakistan's minds. They are not safe on their own land. If we can do it once, we can do it again".
