Sushma Swaraj Passes Away: Amroha artist creates six-foot portrait in moving tribute

To pay tribute to the departed soul of the late Former Chief Minister of Delhi, Sushma Swaraj an artist hailing from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh created a mesmerising 6-feet potrait of the deceased using charcoal.

To pay tribute to Sushma Swaraj who passed away on Tuesday, August 6, an artist hailing from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh has created a mesmerising 6-feet portrait of the former External Affairs Minister.

The artist Zoaib Khan has painted many such portraits of political leaders in the past, with his latest masterpiece celebrating the senior BJP leader whose efforts in her latest charge - as EAM in the first Modi government - saw her bring the ministry to Indians across the world like never before.

Sushma Swaraj passes away

Former Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had passed away on Tuesday night, after having suffered a cardiac arrest in New Delhi. The senior BJP leader was taken to AIIMS at quarter to nine in a critical condition on Tuesday evening. Senior BJP leaders of the likes Nitin Gadkari and Dr Harshvardhan had accompanied her to AIIMS where she breathed her last.

Sushma Swaraj's Biography

Born in Ambala cantonment in what is now Haryana on February 14, 1954, Sushma Swaraj majored in Sanskrit and Political science at the Sanatan Dharma College in the Ambala Cantonment, before studying law at the Punjab University. She started practicing law as an advocate at the Supreme Court of India in 1973, and in the same decade, also joined the ABVP. She participated in Jayprakash Narayan's movement during the Emergency and subsequent to that joined the newly founded BJP. 

PM Modi expresses condolences

Condolences poured in from celebrities from all walks of life for the family of Sushma Swaraj. The honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took the opportunity to express his heartfelt grief. In a series of tweets, he spoke highly of her,  marking the event of her death as 'an end of a glorious chapter in politics'. Calling her a prolific orator and outstanding Parliamentarian, he said the nation will grieve her death as she was an inspiration to all. He said that she was 'excellent administrator', and 'set high standards in every Ministry she handled'.
