Sushma Swaraj passes away: Daughter Bansuri Swaraj performs last rites; former EAM cremated with state honours at Lodhi Crematorium

Sushma Swaraj passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 67 years in New Delhi. Her remains were taken to BJP headquarters on Wednesday before being taken to Lodhi crematorium for funeral rites.

Sushma Swaraj passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 67 years in New Delhi. Her remains were taken to BJP headquarters on Wednesday before being taken to Lodhi crematorium for funeral rites.

The late former EAM's daughter Bansuri Swaraj and husband Swaraj Kaushal, paid salute as state honours were accorded to her. Bansuri performed the last rites of the senior BJP leader. The late former Union Minister was cremated with state honours at Lodhi Crematorium.

Several dignitaries pay tribute to Sushma Swaraj

Dignitaries and politicians from across party lines thronged to pay final tribute to her at Lodha crematorium. PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister LK Advani, Senior BJP leader LK Advani, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present at Lodhi Crematorium. Pm Modi and Vice President were visibly emotional as they expressed their condolences to Swaraj's family members.

Swaraj's death was not only by Indians but also by envoys and Foreign Ministers and Presidents across the world. Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, frmer Canadian Foreign Minister Stephen Harper, French Ambassador to India Alexandre Ziegler expressed their condolences as well.
