Tamil Nadu man allegedly attacked by fringe group for posting photo of himself having beef soup on Facebook

A youth named Mohammed Faizan was allegedly attacked by Hindu Makkal Katchi at Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu for posting a picture of him eating beef soup on Facebook. Faizan is from Tamil Nadu's Nagapattinam District.

A youth named Mohammed Faizan was allegedly attacked by Hindu Makkal Katchi at Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu for posting a picture of him eating beef soup on Facebook. Faizan is from Tamil Nadu's Nagapattinam District.

A group of at least 20 men from the organisation allegedly entered Faizan's home and brutally attacked him. They allegedly stabbed him with a knife for posting such a picture on the social media platform. 

Faizan was admitted to the government hospital. An FIR was filed against 20 members based on the complaint filed by the family members. They demanded immediate action against the members who attacked Faizan and have warned of a protest. The police began a search for the men from the group who soon went missing.

As per reports, Faizan has alleged that the members of Hindu Makkal Katchi posted vulgar comments on his Facebook post and had threatened him with dire consequence. He has said that they later deleted the comments and hence he believed that the matter had ended. But later, he was allegedly attacked by men with masks on their face carrying 'dangerous weapons'. He has even alleged that of police had not come in time, he would have been killed by the mob.

On the orders of district Superintendent of Police TK Rajasekaran, Kilvelur police registered a case and arrested four people on Friday. Those arrested were Dinesh Kumar (28), Agathian (29), Ganeshkumar (27) and Mohankumar (28). Police have registered cases under IPC sections 506(2), 307, 294B, 274. including attempt to murder. They are on a hunt for those still absconding in the case.
