Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has called for a cabinet meeting on Thursday, September 6. As per sources in the cabinet, he is likely to announce the dissolution of the state assembly. According to sources, KCR’s son KTR has been coordinating with Delhi on behalf of his father. The sources have also claimed that the chief minister has chosen September 6 as the day of the announcement as he feels that number 6 is lucky for him. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief is said to be a strong believer in numerology, vaastu and astrology.

It has been since long speculated that the Chief Minister may press for early elections in the state as he is keen on advancing the assembly elections to November or December to tie in with the polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram.  At present, the Telangana state elections are scheduled to coincide with the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Reportedly, KCR had plans to advance the elections so that the general elections does not overshadow the local issues that the Chief Minister has been banking on.

The BJP government wants simultaneous elections, but with KCR going against them, the Central Government might be forced to appoint a caretaker government. As per sources, BJP chief Amit Shah is planning to meet the legal team late on Wednesday night. It is also said that the Telangana cabinet will announce either of the two options at the cabinet meeting on Thursday :

1) The announcement on the dissolution of the state assembly will be made.

2) Convene the house on the matter and then announce on the floor of Telangana assembly

For the meeting that was to be attended by 25 lakh people,  roads leading to the venue were decked up with Telangana Rashtra Samithi flags and 19 roads have been cleared for people to attend the meeting. At the venue, basic amenities like drinking water and toilets had also been arranged for the public. Sound systems, floodlights and LED screens were also arranged, along with 30 ambulances. The meeting received flak from the opposition parties, who accused the TRS of wasting a huge amount of money for the meeting.
