(Eds: Updating with health official's quotes, CM KCR COVID-19 test) Hyderabad, Apr 28 (PTI): Telangana's coronavirus tally mounted to over 4.19 lakh as 8,061 people tested positive while the death toll stood at 2,150 with 56 more casualties.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 1,508 followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 673 and Rangareddy 514, a bulletin said on Wednesday, providing details as of 8 PM on April 27.

The total number of cumulative cases in the State stood at 4,19,966 while with 5,093 patients being cured, the total recoveries were at 3, 45,683.

The State has 72,133 active cases and more than 82,000 samples were tested on Tuesday.

Cumulatively, over 1.27 crore samples have been tested.

The samples tested per 10 lakh population was over 3.42 lakh, the bulletin said.

The case fatality rate in the State was 0.51 per cent, while it was 1.1 per cent at the national-level.

The recovery rate at the State was 82.31 per cent while it was 82.3 per cent in the country.

The State has 278 active micro-containment zones.

According to a separate press release, over 38.48 lakh people in the State have received their first dose of COVID- 19 vaccine while over 5.49 lakh got their second shot also as of April 27.

Director of Public Health G Srinivasa Rao said the COVID- 19 situation in the State is still not under control and it would take another three to four weeks to moderate.

"We should continue to take all precautionary measures, he said.

According to him , the State has over 18,000 oxygen beds and more than 10,000 ICU beds even as only 50 per cent of them are occupied.

Advising people not to rush to hospitals without severity, the official said Telangana is one of the best States in the country in terms of recovery rate.

Meanwhile, an official release said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who tested positive of the virus, underwent COVID-19 examination conducted under the supervision of his personal physician Dr MV Rao and his team.

The Chief Minister is currently in isolation at his farmhouse about 70 KM from here.

The tests were conducted for the Chief Minister at the farmhouse where he is in isolation. As part of the tests, he had undergone the Rapid Antigen and RT-PCR tests.

The rapid test result came negative while the RT-PCR test results will be known on Thursday, it said. PTI GDK NVG NVG
