While hitting out at the KCR government over the sacking of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees, BJP State Unit Chief K Laxman made assuring statements about the interest of the workers being protected in the state. While speaking to media about the issue, he said:

"The BJP is going to fight it out democratically and legally and we see that the interest of TSRTC employees is protected.” He also added, "The government cannot on its own in a single stroke, sack 50,000 workers who have been working for decades. They have got their own rights.”

'Should have discussed with workers'

He also said the government should have discussed issues with the workers and tried to solve them, considering that the workers had given the strike notice a month ago. He further added, "The government has promised that TSRTC employees will be treated at par with government employees. Their salaries will be increased but instead of doing that, the government is not paying the employees on time.”

While accusing the government of wanting TSRTC to slip into losses, he was quoted saying the authorities also want to handover RTC to private hands and to people close to them. Speaking about BJP looking at the situation differently and wanting to solve it democratically, Laxman said it is the fate of the Telangana public that they are not allowed to protest or criticize the government.

BJP's democratic idea

He also said that  "We are definitely going to chalk out a long program as not only TSRTC employees but students and civil services officers are facing problems under this government.

Laxman’s comment came after the Telangana government, on Sunday, sacked over 48,000 employees and workers of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The move was executed over an indefinite strike that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called an "unpardonable crime".
