In Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, a non-local civilian was shot dead by terrorists in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon at around 1:30 PM. According to reports, the victim suffered bullet injuries, in a second incident that occurred within two days. As per PTI reports, the victim was a migrant labourer from Chhattisgarh, and was shot dead by terrorists in the terror hotbed of Pulwama district in South Kashmir, police said. 

A joint operation by the CRPF and state Police has been launched to nab the terrorists responsible for the attacks on civilians. The security forces are covering the town as well as the adjourning villages.

On October 14, two terrorists shot dead a truck driver ferrying apples from Rajasthan. Along with him, the terrorists physically attacked an orchard owner in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, the police said. The police also said one of the terrorists is suspected to be a Pakistan national. 

According to Republic sources, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “While it was largely peaceful, the incident in Shirmal is a reflection of what we have been saying for a while now. Pakistan has been desperately trying to spoil the law and order situation.”

Terrorists nabbed in Kashmir

On Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two terrorists belonging to a Pakistan-based outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. In a joint operation, two terrorists, identified as Chandi Khatana and Wajid Ali Khatana, both residents of Jandiwada Rajouri were nabbed. According to police records, both of them have been affiliated to the proscribed terror outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and were acting as couriers for active terrorists, the spokesman said.

Security forces killed two terrorists in an encounter in Awantipora town of Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Tuesday, a police spokesperson said. The encounter was a joint operation by the Army, CRPF and the police. According to reports, the encounter occurred at around 5 AM on Tuesday. 

The spokesperson said the operation was carried out after receiving an intel input, subsequent to which a gun battle broke out between the terrorists and security forces on the outskirts of Awantipora district on Tuesday morning. Out of the three terrorists hiding inside a house in Khawanpora area, one was killed and his body was recovered by the security forces. According to official reports, the hunt for the other two terrorists is underway.
