Kashmir has witnessed the third incidence of brutal killings of non-Kashmiris in the last three days after terrorists deliberately targetted non-locals in the valley. As per reports from Republic TV's Zeenat Zeeshan, Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists have started attacking non-Kashmiri traders and truck drivers. In order to nab and neutralize the terrorists, Jammu and Kashmir Police has put up posters seeking the help of locals to locate the terrorists.
A Punjab-based apple trader was killed and another injured in a terrorist attack in the Shopian district of South Kashmir on Wednesday evening, police said. Charanjeet Singh and Sanjeev were shot at Trenz by 3-4 terrorists around 7.30 pm, police said. They were taken to the district hospital in Pulwama in a critical condition. Charanjeet succumbed to his injuries while Sanjeev's condition is stated to be critical, they said.
A migrant labourer from Chhattisgarh was shot dead by terrorists in the terror hotbed of Pulwama district in South Kashmir, police said. S K Sagar, a resident of Bansoli area of Chhattisgarh, was a brick kiln worker, they said. Director-General of Police Dilbagh Singh said that the incident happened at Kakapora area of Pulwama.
"We have fanned out teams in various parts to nab the killers," he said.
A joint operation by the CRPF and state Police has been launched to nab the terrorists responsible for the attacks on civilians. The security forces are covering the town as well as the adjourning villages.
On October 14, two terrorists shot dead a truck driver ferrying apples from Rajasthan and his truck was set on fire. Along with him, the terrorists physically attacked an orchard owner in the Shopian district of South Kashmir on Monday, the police said. According to Republic sources, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “While it was largely peaceful, the incident in Shirmal is a reflection of what we have been saying for a while now. Pakistan has been desperately trying to spoil the law and order situation.”
According to J&K Police, as per the initial investigation, terrorists groups — JeM and HM — are behind this terrorist act. Sources say that the villagers tried to save the civilian but the terrorists thrashed the villagers as well as killed the driver. An FIR has been registered under sections 151/2019 U/S 364, 342, 302, 307, 459, 435 RPC, 7/27 Arms Act, Sec 16, 18, 20 of ULA. The police maintain that the investigation is in progress. A search operation was being carried out in the area to track down the terrorists.
Former Union Minister questioned the silence of the Lobby over the killing of the apple trader, saying, "a word of protest against the killing of an innocent person in Kashmir." Further questioned the leaders who talk about "civil liberties" for not raising any questions about the killings.
