"The lives of people in Leh inspire me to work hard for them," says PM Narendra Modi during visit to Jammu and Kashmir

PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several development projects in Leh on Saturday. 

The first-ever varsity in Ladakh, the University of Ladakh was inaugurated by PM Modi.It was established under the University of Ladakh Act 2018. He also launched several projects under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

In Jammu and Kashmir, he laid foundation stones of three Model Degree Colleges in J&K, at Kishtwar, Kupwara and Baramulla, he also laid foundation stones of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Career Hub in University of Jammu.

At Leh, PM Modi addressed a public meeting. He praised the people of the region for living under inhospitable climatic conditions and said their lives inspire him.

"You live in difficult conditions and challenge them. That is a huge inspiration for me to work hard for you. Your affection for me will be repaid to you through development projects. Adverse climatic conditions bring difficulties, there are electricity supply and water supply issues, there are health issues. The Centre is committed to improving it, and hence I keep coming to Jammu and Kashmir, Leh-Ladakh.

The way the BJP government functions is to do things quickly. It is not our way to delay and keep the public hanging. 

The Centre has taken steps to develop tourism in the region. There are five new tracking routes created here which can benefit the tourists.

The Centre is working across the country in five-fold ways - education for children, employment for youth, healthcare for old, agriculture, and redressals for public. We are working to strengthen the facilities in Leh Ladakh.

There is nearly 30% rise in the budget allocated for the SC and approximately 35% increase in the budget allocated for the Dalits. The amendment to the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Council  Act has given more power to the council.

With Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas being the basis of the Centre's work, we ensure that development reaches every corner of the country", he said.
