'They Have To Prove That They Also Exist, And That Is Why They Are Doing This': Army Chief Bipin Rawat Hits Out At The Cowardice Of Terrorists

Less than a day after a sub-inspector was shot dead in a terror attack at Wahibugh in South Kashmir's Pulwama district, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Bipin Rawat has stated that such activities are undertaken by terrorists only to prove their existence. 

Taking a strong stand on this matter which condemning the attack, the Indian Army chief said, "When you start targeting people who are alone, who are unarmed and are spending time with their family on leaves, is a sign of frustration. There is frustration setting in, the terrorists are under pressure. They have to prove that they also exist, and that is why they are doing this."

General Rawat was speaking about the killing of Sub-Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir of Criminal Investigation Department wing of the police in Srinagar's Sheergadi area. The Kashmir Zone Police confirmed his death through Twitter.

"We have lost SI Imtiyaz of JKP in a terror incident at Pulwama. We condemn this gruesome killing and pay our sincere tribute to the officers. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving family at this juncture."

A number of terrorist activities have taken place on the border in October. Last week, two terrorists were neutralized by the Indian security forces, though, one jawan was martyred in an encounter in Malganipora area of Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Prior to that, four terrorists were neutralized in Khar Mohalla of Arwani in Bijbehara district in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag city. Identified as Owais Lone (Hizbul Mujahideen), Sahir Makroo (Hizbul Mujahideen), Muzamil Magray (LeT) and Amir Tantray (LeT), they were taken down after a cordon and search operation.
