Tigress and two cubs found dead in Maharashtra's Chandrapur District

The Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, which is home to a number of striped species of animals, is located in Chandrapur district, which is around 680 km from Mumbai.

A tigress and her two cubs were found dead in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district on Monday.

The grave news came on Monday morning after an official spotted the carcasses near a drain in the Metepara Village which falls under the Chimur forest range. The Chief Conservator of Forest SV Ramarao said. The dead cubs were aged around eight to nine months old while the tigress was close to five-six years old. 

An inquiry has been ordered to identify the cause of death, even as officials ruled out a possible case of poisoning.

The Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, which is home to a number of striped species of animals, is located in Chandrapur district, which is around 680 km from Mumbai. On May 9 this year, a full-grown tiger died of drowning in Melghat Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region. With this latest death of a tiger, the toll has reached eleven since January in the state.
