Tripura CM meets PM Hasina, discusses Indo-Bangladesh relations

Tripura CM Deb met Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina on the first day of her visit to India, where they discussed a range of issues over Indo-Bangladesh relations.

The Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the first day of her visit to India. During their meeting, they discussed a range of issues including a direct flight between Agartala and Dhaka. The Chief Minister in a tweet said that they had a 'fruitful interaction' and also spoke about various other issues related to Indo-Bangladesh relations.

According to reports, the Bangladesh Prime Minister has given mutual consent on CM Deb's idea to start a direct flight between Dhaka and Agartala.

"Since Tripura is surrounded by Bangladesh various bilateral issues related to Tripura and Bangladesh were also discussed. Most importantly after my request Madam Hasina also shown interest for an international flight from Dhaka to Agartala," he said.

Speaking about Bangladesh's relation with India, CM Biplab Deb said that PM Hasina and Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares a good bond and are making friendly relations of both the countries including economic development. According to reports, the Chief Minister also urged the Bangladesh Prime Minister regarding Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal (BBIN) services. PM Hasina gave a positive response to this and said an agreement in this regard is likely to be announced soon. Bangladesh is also ready for the declaration of  Government of India (GOI) Sonamura Waterways as International Protocol rout, as per reports.

Four-day tour

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in India on her four-day tour on October 3 in the national capital. The objective of the visit is to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations. The main focus of her bilateral talks will be trade and connectivity. The Ministry of External Affairs tweeted that India’s relationship with Bangladesh is of utmost priority. The tweet also stated that both the nations share a multifaceted relationship which is more than just a strategic partnership.
