Twin brother pays homage to Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra on his 20th death anniversary

Late Captain Vikram Batra’s twin brother Vishal Batra paid homage to the brave matyr atop a 16,000-foot-high Himalayan massif along the Line of Control on July 7, after 20 years in the same place and date where Captain had sacrificed his life in the service of the country during the 1999 Kargil War.

Late Captain Vikram Batra’s twin brother Vishal Batra paid homage to the brave martyr atop a 16,000-foot-high Himalayan massif along the Line of Control on July 7, after 20 years in the same place and date where the Captain had sacrificed his life in the service of the country during the 1999 Kargil War. 

Vishal Batra a banker by profession in Chandigarh and fondly addressed as  'luv'  undertook this journey to pay homage to his identical twin 'Kush' on his 20th death anniversary. 

Vishal Batra was dropped by a helicopter to Point 4875 now known as ‘Batra top’. At Point 4875, Captain Batra had led the assault by his ‘paltan’, 13 JAKRIF, to get it vacated from Pakistan army’s illegal occupation. In September 2019, Captain Batra, a Param Vir Chakra recipient, would have turned 45.

Captain Vikram Batra, a resident of  Palampur in Himachal Pradesh was inducted into the Indian Army in 1997. Beginning his service as a lieutenant, his hard work, dedication, and undaunted spirit soon led to his rise to the rank of a Captain. Often referred to as the 'Sher Shah of Kargil' by his opponents, on July 7 he led the toughest operations in mountain warfare in Indian history. His daring assault enabled the completion of the capture of Pt 4875. Through the braveheart succumbed to his injuries, he is still remembered by Indians as one whose actions were beyond the call of duty and who made supreme sacrifice in the finest traditions of the Indian Army.
