Former Union Minister Kapil Sibal on Tuesday raked up the Rafale issue yet again with a 'false report' and accused Reliance ADAG chairman Anil Ambani of having know-how that he would win a particular deal (according to the Congress - the Rafale) days ahead of PM Modi's visit to France in 2015.
But in a strange turn of events, the senior Congress leader, later on the very same day, represented Anil Ambani's RCom in the Supreme Court relating to a case against Ericsson.
His act of attacking Anil Ambani out of court, before representing him inside the court, was justified by his party, who maintained that he fought for Anil Ambani at a 'personal capacity'. Though, it did not stop the Twitterati from having a laugh about the actions of the ex-HRD minister.
The senior Congress leader, along with his party president Rahul Gandhi, continued the tirade against the Central government regarding Rafale by bringing out an e-mail trail on Tuesday, which suggested that Anil Ambani knew he was to win the fighter jet deal, and concluding that PM Modi helped him.
But later in the day, Reliance Defence issued a statement which blowed away all the lies of Rahul Gandhi, Sibal and Congress. Anil Ambani's firm cleary stated that the deal which was mentioned in the mail trail was not related to the Rafale, but in fact to a helicopter deal.
"For the record, MoU for Rafale aircraft was signed between France and India on 25 January 2016 and not in April 2015. From the above, it is evident that the facts are being deliberately twisted and reality being ignored," Reliance Defence said in his statement.
