Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were gunned down by the Security Force in an encounter that was carried out in the Anantnag sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The bodies of the terrorists and two weapons were also recovered. The Security forces launched a search operation in Muniward village after they received information about the presence of terrorist. An encounter broke out when the terrorists opened fire on the forces.
While speaking to Republic TV, Shesh Paul Vaid (Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir) said,"Significant and important breakthroughs, as he was active since 2012. He had also participated in extortions and snatchings. It was a good and clean operation".
Shesh Paul Vaid (Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir) took to Twitter and informed:
A house was blasted and two civilians have been injured during the encounter. They are shifted to the hospital for medical assistance. The Security Forces have now initiated a search operation. In the wake of the encounter, Internet services are also suspended in Anantnag.

Anantnag Encounter Update: 02 Terrorists eliminated including Top HM Commander Altaf Dar
August 29: Police and Security Forces jointly launched search operation today at Muniward area of Khanabal in District Anantnag in the early morning hours.
During the searches, terrorists fired on the search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were eliminated. The killed terrorists were identified as Altaf Ahmad Dar @Kachroo @ Moin of Hawoora Mishipora and Umar Rashid Wani of Khudwani Kulgam.
Altaf Ahmed Dar @ Kachroo @ Moin son of Late Gh. Mohd Dar resident of Hawoora, Mishipora District Kulgam was currently operating as a one of the most important terrorist Commander of proscribed terror outfit HM. He had a long history of criminal records since 2007.
Considered as a long time surviving terrorist in the area, he was involved in a series of terror crimes in the area. He was involved in several attacks on the security forces and killings of civilians and policemen in the area. Several cases were registered against him in different police stations across the valley for his terror activities. Some of the prominent cases include rifle snatching from policemen at Yaripora BSNL Tower. FIR No 208/7 under section 307, RPC, 7/27, Arms Act; FIR No 226/2010 under section 20 ULA (P) Act; FIR No 239/2010 under section 307,RPC 7/27 Arms Act; FIR No 15/2010 under section 307, 392 RPC 7/25 Arms Act in PS Yaripora; FIR No 21/2011 under section 7/25 Arms Act P/S Zadibal Srinagar; FIR No 174/15 under section 307, 392 RPC , 7/25 Arms Act PS Kulgam etc. Pertinently during the 2016 unrest he along with Yasin Itoo @Gaznavi played a major role in instigating people.
Umar Rashid Wani son of Abdul Rashid Wani resident of Khudwani Kulgam became active since last year. He was involved in many civilian atrocities and attacks on security establishments. He was also involved in killing o policemen at Anantnag. Further, in Srinagar city, Umar had carried an attack on CRPF and also escaped from the recent Batmaloo encounter site. Several cases were registered against him including 145/17 under section 302, 7/27 Arms Act of Police Station Anantnag in which two JKP cops were martyred and 173/18 under section 302, 307, 34 RPC, 7/27 Arms Act, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20 ULA of Police Station Batamaloo. Though this group was a part of HM module they had worked in close coordination with other prescribed outfit for unleashing terror.
Some arms and ammunition were also recovered from the site of encounter.
Police has registered a case in this regard and the investigation has been initiated in the instant matter.
Earlier, terrorists attacked the residence of BJP leader Avtar Singh in Monghama, Tral during night hours. However, the policemen guarding his residence retaliated the fire and the forced them to flee from the spot. A day before the attack, a terrorist was caught on tape while he was roaming around in the streets of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening. Republic TV has accessed the CCTV footage in which the terrorist was seen walking near the Police Control room in the heart of the city. Even before the police could raise alarm, the terrorist managed to flee the spot. The police launched an over-drive to nab the terrorist.
Prior to that a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Naveed Jatt, who is also one of the accused in journalist Shujaat Bukhari's assassination, was caught on camera near Jammu-Srinagar highway. In a video accessed by Republic TV, Naveed Jatt was seen roaming around on the Highway with a motive to challenge security forces. The Security forces initiated a manhunt to nab Naveed Jatt. A high alert was issued in the state of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Independence Day celebration.
Prior to that, Naveed Jatt escaped from police custody while he was being taken to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital for a medical examination. Two policemen were killed in a shootout at the hospital. He also made a dramatic appearance at the funeral of a terrorist who was killed in a gun battle with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.
