Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were gunned down by the Security Force in an encounter that was carried out at Guloora village of Lanagte in Handwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The bodies of the terrorists were recovered and they were identified as:
As per police sources, Liyaqat was allegedly involved in the killing of Hurriyat activist.
Police and Security Forces launched search operation based on credible inputs about the presence of terrorists at Galoora area of Langate in Handwara. During the searches, an encounter broke out when the terrorists opened fire on the forces. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the site of encounter. Search in the area is ongoing.

Handwara Encounter Update
September 11: Refer to our earlier press release regarding the encounter at Guloora in Handwara, it is further communicated that the two killed terrorists have been identified as Furqan Rashid Lone @ Adil and Liyaqat Ahmad Lone @ Sahaba @ Umar Khalid.
Furqan Rashid Lone alias Adil S/O Ab Rashid was resident of Shartpora, Langate and was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT. He was wanted in a number of criminal cases registered at Police Station Handwara FIR No. 271/2016 U/S 148, 149, 307, 436, 332RPC PS Handwara; FIR No.334/2016 U/S 148,149,307,436, 332 RPC PS Handwara; FIR No.357/2017 U/S 120RPC, 18 ULA PS Handwara.
Liyaqat Ahmad Lone alias Sahaba alias Umar Khalid son of Gh Mohi u din Lone was resident of Harwan, Sopore and was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT. He had a long history of involvement in terror-related activities and was wanted in a number of criminal cases FIR No. 45/2016 under section 18b, 20 ULA of Police Station Bomia; FIR 81/2017 under section 363, 376 RPC of Police Station Bomai regarding kidnapping and rape of a minor local girl.
Liyaqat along with other LeT terrorists Gani Khawaja resident of Kralgund and Majid Mir resident of Nowpora Sopore is involved in case of FIR No.70/2018 under section 307 RPC, 7/27 Arms Act of Police Station Bomai regarding the murder of Hurriyat(G) activist Hakim-ur-Rehman Sultani resident of Bomai on 08-09-2018.
Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were gunned down by the Security Force in an encounter that was carried out in the Anantnag sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The bodies of the terrorists and two weapons were also recovered. The Security forces launched a search operation in Muniward village after they received information about the presence of terrorist. An encounter broke out when the terrorists opened fire on the forces.
While speaking to Republic TV, Shesh Paul Vaid (Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir) said,"Significant and important breakthroughs, as he was active since 2012. He had also participated in extortions and snatchings. It was a good and clean operation".
A house was blasted and two civilians have been injured during the encounter. They are shifted to the hospital for medical assistance. The Security Forces have now initiated a search operation. In the wake of the encounter, Internet services are also suspended in Anantnag.
