MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao has been shot dead by Maoists in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. According to the reports, the MLA was shot dead near Lippittiputta in the Dumbriguda Mandal and died on the spot. He recently joined TDP from  Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party. He was looking for a ministerial berth in the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu cabinet.

Kidari Sarveswara Rao reportedly went into agency area for a TDP meeting without proper police protection as there was a lull in violent activity in the area. MLA Sarveswara Rao was earlier warned by Maoists not to encourage mining in agency areas.

Meanwhile, former MLA Siveri Soma was also killed in a similar attack on Sunday. There are reports that Kidari Sarveswara Rao was in the hit list of Maoists and the police has alerted him a number of times.  Around 40 to 60 Maoists suddenly surrounded the MLA and held talks with him for sometime before killing him. He was also provided with a gunman to take care of him. He recently joined TDP from YSRCP.

Visakhapatnam rural police and special Anti-Naxal force Greyhounds asked to conduct massive combing in Agency areas to track down the Maoists who gunned down the MLA and ex MLA. Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the attacks.
