Two terrorists gunned down by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Tral, search operation underway

Two terrorists have been gunned down in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Tral of South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday.

March 05: Apropos our earlier press release regarding the encounter at Tral, it is further informed that the two killed terrorists have been identified as Adfar Fayaz Parray son of Fayaz Ahmad Parray resident of Gulshanpora Tral and Irfan Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Hassan Rather resident of Shariefabad Tral.

According to the police records,  the killed terrorists were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit HM. They were involved in conspiring and executing several terrorist attacks and were wanted by the law for their complicity in a series of terror crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities. Several terror crime cases were registered against them for their terrorist activities. 

Arms & ammunition including rifles were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror cases.

Citizens are once again requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any.


Two terrorists have been gunned down in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Tral of South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday. Bodies of the terrorists have been recovered and search operation is still going on in the area.

"A brief exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists in Tral area," a police spokesman said.

Local sources said that exchange of fire continued for about one hour and the house in which terrorists were hiding has been blasted. Security forces cordoned the area on Monday evening around 8 pm, after which a contact was established between the terrorists and security forces around 4:30 am today (Tuesday).

Government officials had earlier informed that two militants being trapped in Tral and that they were hiding in a house. After which more reinforcement was rushed to the spot.

The area has been cordoned off. Further details are awaited.

The encounter comes on the backdrop of continued ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Poonch and Rajauri areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier on Friday last week, an encounter had broken out between the Security forces and terrorists in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir where two Lashkar terrorists gunned down by Security Forces. Seven civilians were also injured during the encounter.

On February 22, 2019, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. A terrorists was gunnd down by the forces following the encounter.
