Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan commends DRDO's efforts at IISF

Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan praised the Defence Research and Development Organisation's efforts in achieving self-reliance in defence technologies

During the inauguration of the Fifth India International Science Festival (IISF) in Kolkata on Tuesday, Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Harsh Vardhan praised the Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) contribution in achieving self-reliance in defence technologies. 

Post the inauguration, the Science and technology minister also visited the DRDO Pavillion and applauded the efforts undertaken by the organisation for bringing these innovative technologies to Kolkata so that they could inspire the younger generation.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation also took to Twitter and posted about Dr. Harsh Vardhan praising DRDO's contribution towards self-reliance in defence technologies

DRDO also showed a series of indigenously developed defence products to Union Minister Harsh Vardhan. The weapons included ikes of Arjun Tank, BrahMos missile, LR SAM, ASTRA, Phased Array Telemetry, AEW&C System, SONARS, Night Vision Sights, Samyukta, Indigenous Radar Systems, and Female Full Body Protector.

About IISF

The India International Science Festival (IISF) 2019, is an annual event which is jointly organised by Science and technology-related ministries and departments of the Government of India. Vijnana Bharati (Vibha), is being held in Kolkata this year.    

The four-day science festival will start on November 5 and will last up to November 8. The Science festival's main aim is to inculcate scientific temper among the masses and showcase India's contribution in the field of Science and Technology over the years and also make the people aware of its benefits. IISF also aims at building a strategy for the inclusive advancement of Science and Technology.
