Minister for Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar denounced Congress Leader Navjot Singh Sidhu over the events that unfolded in the Kartarpur Corridor ceremony on Wednesday in Pakistan.

"The issue is not why Sidhu is going, the issue is that he is going there and criticizing the Indian government," said the Minister.

Sidhu found himself at the receiving end of criticism for hailing the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan at the ceremony while delivering a speech, by completely overlooking the terror-friendly atrocities infused by Pakistan in India.

"He is praising Imran Khan to the hilt. The most objectionable thing is that he raised domestic issues when Pakistan is indulging in wrong cross-border activities, he is praising Imran Khan. Once the flattering starts, it doesn't stop," Javadekar said.

He further drew remarks on the Congress Party for not taking action against Sidhu saying, "Congress will not take any action against Sidhu because it is Congress' double speak. The Congress Party is completely alienated from the masses."

Navjot Singh Sidhu was profuse in his thanks to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday, even going so far as to say that whenever people speak about the Kartarpur Corridor in years to come, they would thank Imran Khan

India's ministry of external affairs issued the following statement in response:

In response to queries regarding a reference to "Kashmir"  by Pakistan Prime Minister today, the Official Spokesperson said:

"It is deeply regrettable that the Prime Minister of Pakistan chose to politicise the pious occasion meant to realise the long pending demand of the Sikh community to develop a Kartarpur corridor by making unwarranted reference to Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral and inalienable part of India.

Pakistan is reminded that it must fulfill its international obligations and take effective and credible action to stop providing shelter and all kind of support to cross-border terrorism from territories under its control."
