In a shocking revelation in the Unnao rape victim accident, Republic TV on Monday has accessed a letter written by the victim's mother on July 13,  to the UP Police detailing the threats she and her family are facing.

She has claimed that a couple of individuals stating that they would file a counter case of bribery against the victim and her family ensuring that they will rot in jail if they do not take back the rape case filed against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The victim's mother also claims that she received continuous threats on July 7 and 8.

Police has also named the Unnao rape accused - Sengar and his associates in its FIR charging them of conspiracy to murder, in connection with the accident.

Meanwhile, the victim and her lawyer who are in critical condition have been put on ventilator. The victim has suffered a fracture on her leg and a head injury, as shared by the Trauma Center's media-in-charge.

Politics over accident:

The ruling BJP government has ruled out any conspiracy, stating that if the victim's family wishes CBI intervention in the accident investigation, then the authorities will do so. But many Opposition leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi to name a few, have hit hard speculating conspiracy to kill and has slammed the lax in the security provided to the Unnao rape victim. Parliament too erupted in Monday's session protest against the attempt at the rape victim's life.

While the CBI cannot directly take over the investigation as of now, it has sought details from UP Police about the accident as the victim is the prime witness in the Unnao case. The agency has also reportedly decided to keep a close eye on the investigation of UP police with regards to the accident, as per sources.

Unnao victim's Accident:

Earlier on Sunday, a car in which the survivor of the Unnao rape case, her family and lawyer were traveling was hit by an over-speeding truck in Rae Bareli on Sunday, killing two members while leaving her and her advocate critically injured, police said.

The family was allegedly visiting the Unnao rape victim's uncle,  who is currently in Raebareli jail. The police are currently investigating the circumstance under which the accident has occurred. Sources also report that a truck had allegedly hit the victim's car, and the truck driver has allegedly fled from the site.

Police investigation:

UP DGP OP Singh, speaking to reporters, assured that the probe into the road accident would be free and fair and that as per primary information it was purely due to overspeeding of the truck, the driver and owner of which have been arrested. 

In terms of the security not being present, the DGP said that there was no negligence, rather, that the victim had allegedly requested the security personnel to not accompany her because there was a lack of space in her vehicle.

Unnao rape Case details:

The 17-year-old victim was allegedly raped by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar on 4 June 2017. After accusing him, in April 2018, the victim had attempted to self-immolate before the Uttar Pradesh chief minister's residence.

Following that, her father was assaulted, allegedly by the rape-accused BJP MLA's brother Atul Singh Sengar. Before succumbing to his injuries, the victim's father had named Atul Singh Sengar as his assaulter in video testimony.

In April 2018, a case was registered against Unnao rape accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar under section 363, 366, 376, 506 and Pocso Act of Indian Penal Code and was sent to jail. Sengar along with his brother Atul Singh is in jail since then.
