UP Dy CM warns Shiv Sena about 'opportunistic' Congress & NCP

UP Dy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said BJP has the history of not leaving an alliance till the end and it wants to have a stable government in Maharashtra.

Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Dinesh Sharma on Wednesday, speaking about the political crisis in Maharashtra and the presumed end of the Shiv Sena and BJP alliance, said that the BJP has the history of not leaving an alliance till the end and it wants to have a stable government in the state. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said, "BJP has never deserted any of its allies. It has been our tradition. We have always tried to form a government through the democratic process. BJP always wants a stable government and that's why mandate was given to the coalition."

'Congress has never been a trustworthy ally'

Talking about the alliance of Shiv Sena with Congress and NCP, he said, "It's not a matter of concern for the BJP, Congress has never been a trustworthy ally. When it comes to alliances, Congress does not have a good history, so Shiv Sena should see through the opportunist NCP and Congress before forming an alliance with them."

Sanjay Raut reiterates 'next Maha CM From Sena' 

Even as Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena are holding a number of meetings for the government formation in Maharashtra, Sena's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut reiterated on Wednesday that CM will be from his party. Sena had a fallout with its Mahayuti alliance partner- BJP over the CM post. Sena had demanded to share the CM post, on the 50:50 basis. However, BJP said no such formula was decided and after blaming Sena for insulting people's mandate, former CM Devendra Fadnavis said to the Maharashtra governor that BJP cannot form the government in the state.

Earlier on Tuesday, sources said that Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray told the MLAs of his party that they are still in contact with the BJP and if the BJP agrees for the 50-50 formula, then both the parties will be happy together. Meanwhile, he also met top leaders of Congress on Wednesday. The Sena- NCP and Congress are trying to chalk out a formula to form the next government in Maharashtra.

President's Rule in Maharashtra

President Ram Nath Kovind, on Tuesday, accepted the Maharashtra Governor's recommendation and implemented President's rule in the state. Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed that now Maharashtra assembly is under suspended animation after the President officially signed the order. If no party stakes claim within six months, fresh elections will be held in the state. Earlier, the Governor had confirmed that he had recommended the same and submitted a report to the President, via MHA, according to the provisions of Art. 356 of the Constitution. The governor is of the opinion that no party - be it BJP, Shiv Sena, Congress or NCP can give a stable government in the state.
