He said, "The victim's family wants justice. We stand in support with Kamlesh Tiwari's family and the culprits will be caught soon. We will take the case to a fast-track court. And we will demand the death sentence for the killers from the court."

'Issue should not be politicised'

Castigating the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party, Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party and the Congress for raising questions about law and order, Pathak stated that these parties had lost their base in Uttar Pradesh. He opined that such a serious issue should not be politicised.

Tiwari murder case

Formerly a leader of the Hindu Mahasabha, Tiwari was the founder of the Hindu Samaj Party. He was shot dead on October 18. Though he was immediately rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly. While the assailant managed to flee the spot, a revolver was also recovered from the site of the crime. The police indicated that the accused spent around 30 minutes with Tiwari on the pretext of gifting him sweets. While the UP police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has already arrested three persons. Subsequently, the family of Tiwari met the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 20, where he too assured them of justice in this case.
