UP: Seven PPS officers retired compulsorily for not performing duty

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday gave compulsory retirement to seven Provincial Police Service officers for not performing their duty effectively

The Uttar Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday sent seven Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers on compulsory retirement for not performing their duties well and efficiently, an order stated.

As per the order, all the PPS officers were aged 50 or above and had ranks like Superintendent of Police and Assistant Commandant of the Provincial Service Cadre. The decision to send these officers on compulsory retirement was taken after considering the recommendation of the screening committee.

When asked about the development, UP Director General of Police OP Singh states that it was part of the state's policy to take action against corruption. "It has been a policy in Uttar Pradesh since last 2 or 2.5 years to take action against corruption. Under Fundamental Rules 56, we've compulsorily retired 7 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers," UP Director General of Police OP Singh told ANI.


The officers who were sent on a compulsory retirement were SPs Vinod Kumar Rana, Narendra Singh Rana, Zonal officer Santosh Kumar Singh, and Assistant Commandants Arun Kumar, Ratan Kumar Yadav, Tejveer Singh Yadav and Tanveer Ahmed Khan.

As a part of its 'zero-tolerance' policy against corruption, the UP state government has forced several employees from different government departments to take compulsory retirement'.

UP Government's 'Zero tolerance' policy

As a part of its 'zero tolerance' policy for corruption, the Yogi government on Thursday removed IFS Pawan Kumar from the post of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Hoff, Uttar Pradesh, over corruption charges.

Over the last 2 years, the Uttar Pradesh government has sent over 200 officials and employees of different departments on permanent forceful retirement. In addition, the government has also punished more than 400 officers and employees by suspending or demoting them.
