As per reports, Secretary Pompeo and Doval held talks pertaining to a series of issues like terrorism and defence.
The meeting has come ahead of the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump in Osaka, Japan on account of the G-20 Summit on June 28.
Earlier on Wednesday, Pompeo met with PM Narendra Modi aiming to deepen the strategic relationship between the two countries. This was Modi's first high profile engagement after he took office for the second time.
He also met MEA S Jaishankar as the two leaders agreed on continuing the emphasis on high-level Indo-US exchange.
Mike Pompeo's visit marks the third visit by a Secretary of State during the Trump Administration to India. Asserting that the support for US-India ties transcends political parties and presidential administrations, the State Department said as the world's oldest and largest democracies, the United States and India share deep respect for one another's values and traditions.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, during his India visit, will attempt to soothe increasing friction with New Delhi over trade, data flow, arms from Russia and Iran oil imports and focus on strategic ties between the two big world democracies, as per US officials.
