Following the amendment of the Motor Vehicles Act which introduced heavy fines for violation of traffic rules, Vadodara resident, R Shah has figured a way to stay ahead of the law and avoid heavy penalties. Rampal Shah pasted his driving license, vehicle registration certificate, pollution certificate, and vehicle insurance on his helmet to avoid hefty fines by the traffic police. 

Shah's Hack to avoid Heavy Fines

Shah credits the new rules under the amendment of the act for this new innovation. He said he realized the need to carry all the important documents to keep away from the hefty fines but since his bike had no space to keep the documents, he thought of pasting them on his helmet. He also said that the hack helped him serve two purposes. The first that he never forgot the documents and second, that it would encourage people to wear helmet while driving. He also added that he was approached by a traffic police officer who noticed his hack and appreciated him for it.

Hefty Fines Imposed under New Motor Vehicle Act

The New Motor Vehicles Act (2019) has introduced heavy penalties for violations of traffic rules. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had notified the states of the provisions of the act a month back. However, the act was put to effect in many states of India from September 1.

The new law witnessed Bidar Police register over 1000 cases in a day and collect over Rs 9 lakh as fines for the violations in one day. On the other hand, Bengaluru Police collected Rs 72 lakh in fines over a period of one week.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari earlier extended his support to the new laws which introduced heavy fines and said that the new laws were aimed at curbing road accidents. Post the introduction of the new laws, Social Media has been flooded with creative memes with netizens showing off their skills.
