It is a big day for India as IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan, who was held captive by the Pakistan Army, will reach India, shortly. Celebrating India's big victory, Varun Dhawan took to his Twitter handle and wrote: "Welcome back home #WelcomeBackAbinandan a true hero. These humane actions give hope that all humanity is not lost. Bharat mata ki Jai [sic]"
Since morning, Bollywood celebrities including Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, Rajkummar Rao, Shah Rukh Khan, Esha Gupta and many others have been expressing their gratitude towards the IAF pilot on social media.
On Wednesday morning, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman's MiG 21 was shot during an aerial combat between India and Pakistan. The tension between the two countries escalated after IAF pilots destroyed Jaish-e-Mohammed's biggest terror camp near Balakot. This move came 12 days after the JeM claimed responsibility for a suicide attack on a CRPF convoy in Kashmir, killing 40 soldiers.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to BJP workers, lauded the defence forces and said that 'India won't stop at any cost' and extended his gratitude towards the security forces.
He said, "We feel grateful towards each of the brave soldiers standing day and night within and at the borders of the country. It's for them that we are here and that is why."
He stated that at this hour, each and every citizen is a soldier who needs to guard his country against the enemy. The Prime Minister also suggested that no such activity will ever curtail or hamper India or its progress.
PM Modi said that the country will fight, live, work and win as one, without allowing the enemy to cause hurdles in the path towards progress. He further encouraged the people of India to work harder and walk the path of progress in unison.
